The Pacific and Southwest Chapter of PCMA is coming to Phoenix. We invite you to join us at the Make-A-Wish America National Office for a tour, lunch, lots of Make-A-Wish inspiration and our PCMA Best in Class keynote speaker Joanne L. Smikle.

Event Program:

The event will start at 11 a.m. with registration and a tour of the Make-A-Wish office. Along the way, you’ll learn about the history of Make-A-Wish and how it all began with the heartfelt wish of one little boy nearly 35 years ago. Make-A-Wish President and CEO, David Williams, will kick off the program and invite you to take a glimpse into the work and mission of Make-A-Wish. Coupled with Joanne’s dynamic presentation, we hope to bring you more than lunch – our hope is that you will walk away with an experience!

We hope you can join us!

Joanne L. Smikle will show us how to Lead Forward and Inspire our Circle of Influence.

It’s time to shed the tired clichés and excuses for mediocre performance! Turbulence, change and economic ups and downs are nothing new. Savvy leaders know that opportunities exist and wishes can become real! We have survived recessions, resource shortages and reductions in force. The real challenge is to lead forward and reach our personal and professional potential. Strategic positioning is your primary leadership responsibility! It is up to you to be forward-focused and to redirect your team so that they can see their wishes materialized.

This session presents ideas you can immediately implement to maximize available resources, capitalize on collaboration and play to your strengths.

This session provides tools you can use to problem solve more effectively and replicate winning strategies for sustainable success. This interactive session addresses the following key leadership competencies:

  1. Appreciative Problem Solving – learn how to identify and replicate past successes
  2. Performance Management – get ideas for going beyond annual evaluations to maximize performance of the entire staff
  3. Motivating the Unmotivated – get real tools for creating energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the meetings industry profession
  4. Building Sustainable Collaboration – learn how to get beyond the rhetoric of teamwork to actual strategies that work for getting and keeping cooperation
  5. Leadership Renewal – consider practical tools for personal and professional revitalization

Exceptional leaders know how important it is to pivot and see their environments through clean lenses. Shift your gaze away from the rear view mirror and lead forward--- that’s where the wishes lie!
